Dr. Burn is an accomplished leader of Operational Excellence committed to providing the strategy, knowledge, and skills needed by organizations to drive world-class quality, enhanced customer satisfaction, and reduced cost of products and services. He is an expert in design, delivery, and management of programs for continuous improvement of manufacturing and transactional processes. In addition, he has a proven ability to influence and build relationships across all levels and diverse cultures in both traditional and matrix organizations.

Dr. Burn was Chief Statistician and Six Sigma Fellow in Corporate Operations with Boston Scientific Corporation and has held various roles in Operational Excellence during nearly twelve years with the medical device company. Most recently, he was Program Leader on the Global Business Excellence team where he managed the development of the next generation of methodologies for continuous improvement.
Prior to this role, he led deployment of Lean Business Process to improve office and transactional processes across Boston Scientific by eliminating waste and improving flow. He also championed adoption of Six Sigma to improve manufacturing and quality processes across all production locations worldwide by reducing variation and centering on target.
Before joining Boston Scientific, Dr. Burn worked for Consumers Union, publisher of the Consumer Reports magazine and website, first as Chief Statistician and later as Director of Technical Information. Earlier in his career, he was Senior Statistician with Minitab, Inc. where he designed many of the visual displays and contributed to the implementation of statistical methods for quality improvement within the Minitab Statistical Software product.
Dr. Burn earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Statistics at The Pennsylvania State University. His current research interests include operational excellence, process improvement, interactive methods for adult learning, and return on investment of training to organizations.
